Safety and Support
“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” – Anonymous
Southern Africa has so much to see and experience, but it also poses special and very-real risks for motorcycling in general. We are committed to safe and enjoyable riding, and for this reason all of our tours are conducted at a leisurely pace and with the highest possible standards of personal and biking safety.
Each tour is accompanied by a support vehicle and back-up motorcycle for unexpected and unavoidable breakdowns or emergencies. Our tour leaders are certified first-aiders capable of taking care of minor spills or injuries and they are in constant contact with our administrative base to ensure the fastest possible reaction times in case of more serious emergencies.
Routes, communities and destinations are carefully selected to ensure the safety of our riders. 'Hot spots' and areas of possible crime are avoided at all times - even 'on the fly', so you can relax and enjoy the trip. We take no risks and don't expect you to either, so if we hear of possible trouble or unsafe conditions before or during our trips, our road leaders are instructed to select alternate routes.
Each tour is limited to a maximum of ten motorcycles to ensure a more personalised approach to your safety and riding enjoyment. We actively discourage reckless or inappropriate riding and will not hesitate to act against any guest that places him/herself or other members of the tour in danger through dangerous riding.
For tours that may include unavoidable sand or gravel, guests are provided an opportunity to undergo pre-tour training with recognised and respected trainers to ensure their experience of the tour is not diminished by concerns for their safety or that of their motorcycle. Where unavoidable unpaved roads do occur, the group will be led by an experienced rider to ensure confidence and comfort.
